Biographical Information
Norman Stockman chairs the Firm’s Litigation Section, focusing on commercial litigation, as well as maritime, construction, and bankruptcy disputes. He represents businesses of all sizes in complex commercial matters, including contract disputes, business torts, shareholder and partnership conflicts, and financial litigation. With extensive trial experience, he litigates cases in state and federal courts across Alabama and Mississippi and is admitted to practice before the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals.
In addition to his litigation practice, Norman has significant experience drafting and negotiating maritime contracts, including charter agreements, vessel purchase and sale agreements, transportation agreements, and towing contracts. His diverse clientele includes corporations, business owners, marine towing companies, terminal operators, contractors, engineers, and architects. Whether advocating in court, structuring contracts, or negotiating favorable resolutions, Norman provides strategic counsel to protect his clients’ business interests.
Beyond his legal practice, Norman has held leadership roles in numerous professional and civic organizations. He has served as a board member of the Warrior Tombigbee Waterway Association, president of the Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Mobile, and chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He has also been president of the Dauphin Way United Methodist Church Foundation, vice-chair of the Mobile Museum of Art’s board of directors, and a member of the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyers Section Executive Committee.
