Buzzy Riis and Katie Hassell receive defense verdicts for national retailer client

Buzzy Riis and Katie Hammett Hassell, partners at Hand Arendall LLC, received defense verdicts in favor of a national retailer they represented for defamation claims brought by two plaintiffs who alleged they had been wrongfully accused of stealing. The plaintiffs requested at least six figure verdicts for both compensatory and punitive damages, but the jury rejected their arguments and awarded defense verdicts on all counts and claims. The case was recently brought in the Circuit Court of Montgomery County, Alabama.
