Douglas J. Sale named one of Florida’s Legal Elite

Harrison Sale McCloy Attorneys at Law Founding Partner Douglas “Doug” J. Sale has been named a second time as one of Florida’s top attorneys. 

Florida Trend Magazine, a Trend Magazine Inc. publication, has named Sale in their annual Florida Legal Elite distributed this week. The Florida Legal Elite are attorneys who exemplify a standard of excellence in their profession garnering the respect and esteem of their colleagues. The attorneys making the prestigious list are selected by their peers. The final roster contains fewer than 2% of the attorneys in the state of Florida. 

His primary areas of practice are local government, public finance, and land use law. In addition, he heads the Firm’s local government and public finance departments. He currently serves as the City Attorney for the City of Panama City Beach, a position he has held since 1981; General Counsel for the Bay County Tourist Development Council; General Counsel for First Florida Governmental Financing Commission; and Former General Counsel and Public Finance Counsel for Bay Medical Center. In addition, he serves as General Counsel for the Panama City Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, and was the City’s lead representative in the financing and development of the Pier Park redevelopment project on Panama City Beach.

Sale earned his J.D., Cum Laude, from the University of Florida, where he served on the Law Review and as a Member of the Order of the Coif. He earned his B.A., Magna Cum Laude, from Vanderbilt University, majoring in Economics and Political Science, and was chosen to be a Member of the Alpha of Tennessee Chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Mr. Sale is admitted to practice in Florida and in the federal court in the Northern District of Florida.
