Hassell Named to 40 Under Forty
Hand Arendall LLC is pleased to announce member Katie Hammett Hassell has been honored as one of Mobile Bay Magazine’s 40 Under Forty. The award recognizes business executives under the age of 40 who have shown leadership, professional excellence and a commitment to the Mobile Bay area.

At Hand Arendall, Hassell’s practice wide and varied, including toxic tort litigation; transportation and other trucking litigation; medical malpractice; premises liability; banking practices and conduct litigation; and commercial litigation; and OSHA disputes. Hassell has successfully tried several jury and non-jury cases and obtained a number of dismissals for clients. Hassell is admitted to the Alabama and Mississippi State Bars. She has also been selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for the last several years.
In the community, Hassell serves as the Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors for the Mobile Museum of Art. She also is an active member of the Junior League of Mobile (JLM), through which she has previously served as chair of the Goodwill Easter Seals Adult Literacy program and the St. Mary’s Home Transitional Living Program. Hassell has received more than one Bloom Where You Are Planted award for her work with JLM. She serves as a big sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She participates in Mobile’s Volunteer Lawyers Program, in which she routinely takes pro bono cases. She has served on several committees for various organizations, including United Way of Southwest Alabama and the Mobile Historic Preservation Society.
Hassell received her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the University of South Alabama. She received her juris doctorate, magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Law.
